Hi Rory,

If you won’t be able to provide a reproducible test case for us any time soon, can we close this ticket first for now?

Later when you have the time to provide the case, we can then re-open this ticket or you can open a new one.

Hi Rory,

Sorry that our replies couldn’t resolve your issue.
To better analyze this issue, we hope you could provide a small case (including Table syntax, freeform DW,Tabular DW and the script you used to connect to the database, e.g. sqlca.dbms, sqlca.dbparm) for us. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Ken

I haven't received any kind of message that describes how this was fixed or an update to my version. I'm still on 2019 R2. What have you done to fixed the issue as it is a PowerBuilder Bug.

SQL Server fields of type Text do not display in Tabular DataWindows even within PowerBuilder DataWindow Preview as well as when application is deployed to end users.

Hi Rory,

I'm just touching base with you about the status of this ticket.
Are you still facing this situation?

With the information provided, we have not been able to reproduce this error.
Can you send us the code of the originals Tabular DWOs or does it happens to you with even with new Tabular DWO?

Regards!

This is a Bug.

From Chris' note "If the TEXT data stream is <32K though, then the Tabular DWO's should work OK", it DOES NOT work. I'm having to change all Tabular Data Windows that have a column which pulls from a SQL Server field with data type of Text. Free Form and Grid Data Windows work okay.

Hi Rory;

We have recorded issues with character data coming from SQL Server unless the text length itself exceeds 32K. In that case, your PB App(s) need to treat the TEXT data type as a Blob (or even Clob in Oracle) and issue a SelectBlob command instead to get the full data stream.

If the TEXT data stream is <32K though, then the Tabular DWO's should work OK but will truncate the text display area once the text exceeds the space provided for the column. In order to see more of the text you would have to either: a) use the AutoSize feature on the column and its related band or b) allow editing and also turn on the AutoHorizontalScroll property.
