Symptom
On some machines, when you open a DataWindow object in PowerBuilder IDE, it hangs, while opening a window object works fine.
Environment
PowerBuilder 2017 or later
Cause
The problem is caused by PowerBuilder Layout.
Resolution
Please follow the steps below to solve the problem:
1. Close PowerBuilder IDE.
2. Start the Windows O/S "RegEdit" utility.
3. Navigate to the entry: "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Sybase\PowerBuilder\##.0\Layout".
4. Delete the "Default" sub-folder and all of its entries.
5. Restart PowerBuilder IDE and see if the DataWindow Painter is now stable.
