Symptom

On some machines, installing PowerBuilder or running a PowerBuilder application will crash or some other abnormal phenomena will happen while the same operations have no problem on other machines.

Environment

Windows OS

Cause

The issue only happens on some machine. It might be caused by corrupted Windows system files on the machine so it’s suggested to first check if the Windows system files on the machine are corrupted.

Resolution

Please follow the steps below to examine if the Windows system files are corrupted and fix the damage if any:

1. Open Command Prompt then run this command to examine system files: sfc /scannow

It will take a very long time to examine the system files in the Windows OS. If it finds any damage in the system files that SFC cannot fix, it will ask the user to fix it by using DISM.

2. If there’s any damage needs to be fix by DISM, users can run this following command:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
